Mr. Stewart assumed his duties with Quorum in late February 2006 with primary responsibility for various capital projects that were underway including the refinancing of a number of assets. Prior to joining the company, he served as an investor and Chief Financial Officer of Sonny Bryan’s, a Dallas-based, 14-unit restaurant company.

His previous industry experiences include serving as EVP & Chief Financial Officer of Patriot American Hospitality from 1995-1998. Upon joining Patriot American, he supervised the establishment and expansion of the hotel accounting and financial reporting systems as that company rapidly advanced from its initial public offering stage to over 200 owned and managed hotels, as well as the ultimate acquisition through merger of Wyndham Hotel Company. In addition, he directed external reporting, including SEC compliance reporting and new offering filings, and assisted in the valuation process for all asset acquisition opportunities, and actively participated in the negotiation of agreements and closings.

Prior to Patriot American, he served as Executive Vice President and CFO of Dallas-based Metro Hotels from 1986-1995, where he was associated with the senior officers of Quorum. He joined Metro in 1986 after spending the period 1981-1985 at Lincoln Hotels as VP of Finance. Previous to Lincoln Hotels, he had spent eight years with Arthur Andersen, having joined them upon leaving the U.S.A.F. as a First Lieutenant.

A Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Rex received an MBA in Finance from the University of Southern California and a B.B.A from Texas A & M University.
